Grand Seiko - Spring Drive GMT "Mountain" Hogakame" SBGE295
Grand Seiko's latest Spring Drive GMT watch is inspired by the mighty Hotaka Mountains, a majestic view that you can admire at Grand Seiko's Shinshu Watch Workshop, where all Spring Drive watches are produced.
The dial of the Spring Drive GMT “Mt. Hotaka Peaks” SBGE295 in particular has a verdant green hue and dynamic texture reminiscent of the summer vegetation that covers the mountain peaks.
The SBGE295 has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 44 mm, a thickness of 14.7 mm and a length of 50.8 mm. Grand Seiko's signature Zaratsu finish, which alternates between mirror-polished and hairline surfaces on different parts of the case, accentuates the design. The curved lugs and the offset crown at 4 o'clock make the watch appear smaller than it really is.

The rotating bi-directional bezel has a scratch-resistant synthetic sapphire overlay. Grand Seiko's Lumibrite compound is applied underneath the overlays, and all white parts on the bezel glow in dark conditions.
The large indexes and hands of the dial also feature Lumibrite, which enhances readability in any lighting conditions. A 24-hour scale ring surrounds the dial and works with the GMT hand and 24-hour bezel track to display a total of three time zones.
The SBGE295 is powered by Grand Seiko's Spring Drive 9R66 movement. The movement offers a 72-hour power reserve when fully wound, with a visible power reserve indicator on the dial next to the scale at 8 o'clock. Its average accuracy is ±1 second per day/±15 seconds per month.
The Spring Drive movement generates electricity through the unwinding of the mainspring, allowing the watch to run completely autonomously without batteries. The electricity generated by the pulley is then used to activate a quartz oscillator that vibrates at 32,768 Hz. Electromagnetic force is also used to control how quickly the spring unwinds, acting as a brake.
